Vietnam, China Border Tourism Seeks to Tap Cultural Potential

Vietnam and China are seeking to enhance cross-border tourism cooperation, aiming to fully tap into the potential of their rich cultural and historical resources. Lang Son province in northern Vietnam and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southwestern China are deepening their collaboration to achieve this goal. Officials have pointed out that both regions possess diverse tourism resources spanning culture, history, ecology, and leisure, expressing their intention to develop attractive cross-border tourism routes and destinations by integrating these resources. Specifically, the development of new tourism products such as caravan tours, cultural and spiritual tourism, and border shopping tourism is anticipated. This move is seen as part of Vietnam's economic development strategy under its one-party system, aimed at promoting inter-regional exchange and economic revitalization. In particular, the activation of economic activities in the border regions with China could contribute to the overall growth of the Vietnamese economy. Furthermore, the deepening of cultural exchange is also expected to foster improved public sentiment between the two countries. In recent years, Vietnam has been strengthening its ties with China, primarily focusing on economic cooperation. Past reports have indicated strengthened cooperation in linking supply chains with China and combating cross-border crimes, suggesting that the current enhancement of tourism cooperation is also part of this broader collaborative relationship.
