SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Classes and government work were suspended in 14 Zambales towns on Monday as Tropical Depression “Luis” and the enhanced southwest monsoon continued to bring rains over Luzon. Municipal governments of Subic, Castillejos, San Marcelino, San Antonio, San Narciso, San Felipe, Cabangan, Botolan, Iba, Palauig, Candelaria and Sta. Cruz announced the suspension to ensure the safety of their constituents. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Tropical Depression “Luis” was located offshore of Zambales, moving with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 80 kph. PAGASA has raised a “yellow alert” over some parts of the province, warning of possible flooding in the coming hours. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant against the risks of low-lying areas being inundated and potential landslides.
