Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Dismissed for Wrongdoings

The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee has decided to discipline Tran Quy Kien, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, for wrongdoings in his position. Based on a proposal from the Party Central Committee's Commission for Inspection, disciplinary action against Mr. Kien was considered on August 14 and finalized by the Party Central Committee's Secretariat on August 21. Kien was found to have violated Party regulations, state laws, and rules regarding prohibited actions for Party members, as well as rules on setting an example. These violations are stated to have caused "very serious consequences," sparking public concern and severely damaging the reputation of Party organizations, localities, and their respective agencies.
