Cambodian Senate Urges Enhanced Efficiency at Bavet International Border Gate

A delegation from the Senate's Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information (Committee 5), led by Dr. Chiov Yisang, visited the Bavet International Border Gate on the afternoon of September 2nd. The delegation held discussions with the Bavet City authorities and officials stationed at the border gate to gain firsthand insight into the latest progress in implementing exit and entry inspection procedures for both national and international visitors, as well as goods. Particular attention was paid to monitoring the implementation of immigration and labor laws within the border area and special economic zones, which are crucial for balancing economic growth promotion with national security maintenance. During the meeting, Dr. Chiov Yisang emphasized that Bavet City and its international border gate are not only one of Cambodia's oldest and busiest land border crossings but also a vital economic, commercial, and tourism artery with high potential for connecting trade flows between Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as within the framework of ASEAN's Southern Economic Corridor. He urged all relevant authorities to further strengthen their sense of responsibility, adhere to professional ethics, and effectively utilize modern technological systems to facilitate trade and tourism services more quickly, efficiently, and transparently. Concurrently, he called for continued cooperation and the maintenance of good relations with their counterparts in neighboring countries to jointly build a border region of peace, friendship, and development. Following the meeting with the authorities, the delegation proceeded to directly observe the exit and entry activities of national and international visitors, the business operations of residents, and various developments in the vicinity of the Bavet International Border Gate.
