Laos and Vietnam are set to deepen their economic and cultural ties through the "Vietnam-Laos Product Week," scheduled to take place from October 1-4 at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang street in Hanoi. The event will feature over 100 signature products from both nations, offering consumers direct purchasing opportunities. Jointly organized by the Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Department of Domestic Trade under the Lao Ministry of Industry and Trade, the event will span a wide array of categories including food, beverages, fashion, cosmetics, and consumer goods. Featured Lao products will include glutinous and non-glutinous rice, buffalo and beef, beer, and various types of tea. Vietnamese offerings will comprise com (young green rice), banh bot loc (tapioca dumplings), banh cha, fish sauce, to he (traditional figurines), and natural and vegan cosmetics. The "Vietnam-Laos Product Week" not only provides consumers in Hanoi and visitors with a chance to explore and purchase products from both countries at a single venue but also serves as a valuable platform for producers and businesses. It offers them an opportunity to introduce their products directly to the Hanoi market, engage with consumers, and gain insights into market demand, thereby expanding market reach and distribution channels. Furthermore, the event will facilitate the exchange of information on products, market demand, and potential cooperation opportunities among Vietnamese and Lao businesses. This initiative is part of the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in domestic market management and development, signed between the two agencies in late 2025. The opening ceremony is slated for October 1 at the same venue, and will be co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Lao Ambassador to Vietnam. Representatives from the Lao Ministry of Industry and Trade, agencies under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, and businesses from both countries are expected to attend and deliver remarks. Through direct product displays, promotion, and sales, the event aims to create an additional channel for Vietnamese and Lao products to reach consumers while strengthening exchanges and connections among producers and businesses from the two countries.
