Kampong Speu Governor Inspects Damaged Roads, Plans for Repair and Development
Kampong Speu Governor led a technical team to inspect damaged roads in four districts/cities, initiating repair and development plans. The governor emphasized road quality and drainage, and ordered stricter enforcement against overloaded vehicles.
Kampong Speu Provincial Governor, Dr. Cham Chansophoan, led a team of technical officials and local authorities to inspect the condition of damaged roads in four districts and cities: Chbar Mon city, Samrong Tong district, Kong Pisei district, and Baset district. The inspection aims to assess road quality and develop plans for repair and further development. During the inspection, Governor Dr. Cham Chansophoan emphasized to the technical officials and all relevant parties the importance of prioritizing quality. He stressed that all construction and repair work must strictly adhere to technical standards, ensuring durability and proper drainage systems to guarantee long-term usability and prevent rapid deterioration. Furthermore, the governor urged technical officials to collaborate with local authorities in regularly monitoring and managing drainage systems and canals along the roads. Blockages caused by garbage or sediment pose the greatest threat to roads from floods and rainwater, and these must be prevented. Simultaneously, relevant parties are to cooperate with law enforcement to intensify inspections of heavy-duty vehicles, strictly enforce traffic laws, and impose penalties on vehicles exceeding the designated weight limits. The governor also appealed to the public to participate in maintaining all state property, especially by refraining from overloading vehicles. This will help keep the roads in good condition, facilitating travel and transportation of agricultural products, thereby contributing to the economic well-being of families and the nation as a whole. The roads inspected include a 10-kilometer stretch connecting to National Road 4 in Samrong Tong district; a 9.9-kilometer road from National Road 4 via Prey Pdao Market to Sar Klen Pagoda; and an 8.4-kilometer connecting road from the old concrete road (No. 16103, width 83) in Sambour and Trapaing Kong communes, heading towards National Road 4 near Saprina factory in Samrong Tong district. In Kong Pisei district, an 8.6-kilometer road connecting National Road 41 to National Road 3 was inspected. In Baset district, a 12-kilometer road from Bangkosey Market to Slap Leng Market, which passes through two communes (Sdok and Pheapheay Mean Chey), has suffered significant damage.
