Indonesia, South Africa Deepen Cultural Ties Over Sheikh Yusuf

Indonesia and South Africa have agreed to deepen cultural exchanges centered on the shared heritage of the 17th-century Islamic scholar Sheikh Yusuf. Recognizing the historical and religious impact Sheikh Yusuf had on both Indonesia's Banten province and South Africa's Cape Town, the two nations aim to strengthen their relationship based on this common legacy. The collaboration seeks to explore the roots of Islamic culture shared by both countries and enhance mutual understanding. Sheikh Yusuf is considered one of the figures who spread Islam to South Africa and also played a significant role in the Islamization of Indonesia, particularly in Banten province.
