In Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, where floods have occurred due to the breach of the Ngwan River dam, reconstruction work, in addition to agriculture and livestock, will continue to be carried out after the waters recede, said Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw, offering words of encouragement to the flood victims when he met them in Nya Shin Su village, Kattaw village group, on August 2. The Chief Minister also urged the flood victims to take special care of their health and to live with strong spirits and in unity. He stated that the state is providing necessary support, and disaster prevention and rescue operations are being carried out with the cooperation of relevant departments, local military units, the Myanmar Police Force, the Fire Brigade, and social welfare organizations. Furthermore, Members of Parliament from the People's Assembly, the National Assembly, and the Region Assembly also offered words of encouragement to the flood victims, and the Chief Minister and responsible officials provided rice, dried noodles, mineral water, and foodstuffs, it is reported.
