Cambodia Inspects Displaced Persons' Living Conditions, Enhancing Agricultural Recovery Support
Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister Kun Kim visited a displaced persons' camp in Battambang province to inspect living conditions and agricultural recovery efforts. Residents are engaged in cultivating crops like cassava and corn, which are expected to contribute to livelihoods and food security.
On August 1, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Kun Kim, First Vice-Chairman of the National Committee for Disaster Management, visited Rong Cham Village in Slakram Commune, Svay Chek District, Battambang Province. He inspected the living conditions and crop cultivation of displaced persons residing in the village. During the visit, H.E. Kun Kim praised the displaced citizens for their efforts in organizing their livelihoods, maintaining their homes, and cultivating various crops around their residences, including cassava, corn, and beans. These agricultural activities are expected to yield benefits for the displaced persons, both for their livelihoods through sales and for their daily consumption. His Excellency conveyed greetings and well wishes from Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. He noted that the Prime Minister consistently instructs to inspect and monitor the situation of displaced persons regularly. This visit underscores the Cambodian government's ongoing commitment to rebuilding the lives and supporting the self-reliance of its displaced population. The focus on securing livelihoods through agriculture is considered a crucial element for long-term stability. Cambodia has a history of displacement due to past conflicts and natural disasters, and the government aims for the smooth reintegration of these individuals into society through housing, vocational training, and agricultural support.
