Vietnam Enhances E-Visa Rollout for Streamlined Entry, Protecting Citizens and Visitors
Vietnam has announced plans to expand its e-visa program, streamlining entry procedures. This initiative aims to enhance the protection of both citizens and international visitors, fostering tourism and economic development.
Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has signed a decision approving a detailed plan to implement the Government's Decree 221/2025/NĐ-CP on granting time-limited visa exemptions to foreign nationals designated as special beneficiaries entitled to preferential treatment in support of Vietnam’s socio-economic development. According to Resolution 389/NQ-CP, recently issued by the Government, the additional places consist of four airports, 11 land border gates, and 26 seaports. Vietnamese consumers are increasingly seeking premium experiences, from travel and shopping to wellness and dining, and are showing greater interest in payment cards with travel-related benefits. A Russian crew member who suddenly suffered paralysis on one side of his body while a container ship was sailing on an international maritime route was successfully brought ashore for emergency treatment through the coordination of doctors from FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. According to the indictment issued by the Hanoi People's Procuracy, on May 2, 2024, the Investigation Security Agency under the Hanoi Department of Public Security received reports that Doan Bao Chau (born in 1968, residing in Giang Vo ward, Hanoi), appeared in livestreams on the BBC Vietnamese YouTube channel and his personal Facebook account, "Chau Doan", delivering content distorting and defaming the people's administration, fabricating information that caused public anxiety, and conducting psychological warfare. Around 1,300 students from 22 countries and territories gathered in Hanoi on August 2 to compete in the international finals of the Asian International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO) 2026, marking the first time Vietnam has hosted the competition's global finale. Beyond wildlife rehabilitation, Bu Gia Map National Park has become an important centre for environmental education, helping raise public awareness of biodiversity conservation through guided visits, rescue-centre experiences, school outreach programmes and digital communication campaigns. In recognition of Le Quy Don's exceptional contributions, UNESCO adopted a resolution to jointly commemorate the 300th anniversary of his birth, acknowledging that his intellectual legacy, commitment to practical learning and humanistic values transcend national borders and form part of humanity's shared cultural heritage. Across Ha Tinh and Nghe An, maintenance teams conduct inspections day and night, using thermal cameras and drones to detect potential faults without interrupting electricity supply. Their work helps ensure stable power supply for businesses as the region accelerates development in line with the Government's economic growth targets. Experts and regulators are pushing to fine-tune rules on land acquisition, compensation, valuation, decentralisation and the capture of land-generated added value, aiming for a harmonious balance of interests among stakeholders. The international conference, co-hosted by Văn Lang University (VLU), the Education Malaysia Promotion Centre in Ho Chi Minh City under the Consulate General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Embassy of Malaysia in Hanoi, focused on driving sustainable impact across ASEAN higher education through technology and collaborative innovation.
