Cambodia Boosts Local Products Market to Support Farmers and Producers

The "Khmer Products Market" in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, Cambodia, has resumed its weekend operations, offering agricultural produce, processed goods, and handicrafts produced and processed by local Cambodian farmers, producers, and artisans. The market is open every Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the riverside park in Takhmao City, Kandal Province. This initiative is being led and supported by the Ministry of Commerce and the Kandal Provincial Administration, with coordination from the Kandal Provincial Department of Commerce. Launched in 2019 as part of the Agricultural Market Access and Smallholder Promotion Project (AIMS), the Khmer Products Market has played a significant role in expanding markets for local farmers and producers. The primary objective of the market is to increase market opportunities for farmers, producers, artisans, small-scale business owners, farmer groups, and production clusters. It aims to strengthen market linkages and promote the sale of local products, thereby increasing income, improving living standards for residents, and contributing to the sustainable development of the local economy. The Ministry of Commerce is urging the public to support and utilize Cambodian products. This support is crucial for strengthening the domestic market, enhancing the competitiveness of national products, and bolstering the livelihoods of Cambodian farmers and producers. This effort aligns with the government's broader economic policy of diversifying the Cambodian economy and fostering domestic industries.
