Cambodian Ministry of Labor Successfully Resolves JS Leather Factory Workers' Concerns, Resumption of Work Tomorrow

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has successfully and promptly resolved the concerns of workers at JS Leather Collection Phnom Penh Co., Ltd. All parties have reached a mutual agreement, and the workers will return to work as usual starting tomorrow, August 4th. Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, stated on August 3rd that the ministry immediately dispatched its leadership and technical officials to intervene and facilitate discussions between company representatives, worker representatives, trade unions, and relevant authorities, leading to a peaceful resolution of the dispute. According to the agreement, the company has consented to improve management and the working environment, relocate machinery that has been impacting workers, ensure no retaliation against trade unions and worker representatives, and strictly adhere to labor laws and internal regulations. The workers, in turn, have agreed to end the dispute and return to work normally. Future issues will be resolved through dialogue and peaceful procedures. Mr. Sun Mesa commented, "The concerns of our workers are the concerns of the Minister and the Prime Minister. Therefore, when our workers face problems, the Ministry does not wait; it intervenes immediately, listens to all parties, and seeks a balanced solution in accordance with the law to protect the interests of the workers and maintain the sustainability of the enterprise's business. The workers' return to work as usual is a tangible result of dialogue, mutual understanding, and the shared responsibility of all parties." He added that this swift resolution demonstrates the effectiveness of the Ministry's labor dispute resolution mechanism, which prioritizes dialogue, respect for the law, and the maintenance of harmony in professional relations to ensure both the rights of workers and the confidence of investors in Cambodia.
