Vietnam to Strengthen Ties with South Korea, Mongolia with Focus on Economic and Technological Cooperation

Vietnam's National Assembly Chairman and his spouse are set to embark on official visits to the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Mongolia, signaling a move to deepen cooperation in economic and technological spheres with both nations. Notably, with South Korea, agreements have been reached to expedite the establishment of a key minerals supply chain technology center. Efforts will also be directed towards resolving challenges faced by Korean businesses investing in this sector. Fields such as semiconductor manufacturing, nuclear power, science, and advanced technologies are increasingly vital for national competitiveness and economic development, presenting significant opportunities for professional exchange, experience sharing, and enhanced cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea, particularly in the energy sector. Regarding relations with Mongolia, the outgoing Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam emphasized Mongolia's consistent importance placed on Vietnam as its first comprehensive partner in Southeast Asia. Vietnam reiterates its support for Mongolia's socio-economic development and national reconciliation, while Mongolia values Vietnam's development achievements and prioritizes strengthening their Comprehensive Cooperation Partnership, facilitating Vietnamese business investments and operations. These visits are viewed as part of Vietnam's broader diplomatic and economic strategy to leverage integration opportunities, solidify its position in regional and global networks, and contribute more substantively to common global issues. General Secretary and President To Lam has stressed that the value of the Party's resolutions and directives is measured by their ability to address practical problems and bring about tangible changes for the people, suggesting an expectation for concrete outcomes from these engagements. Furthermore, Vietnam reaffirms its policy of viewing overseas Vietnamese communities as crucial strategic resources, serving as vital bridges connecting the nation with the world. Vietnamese communities in countries like China and Japan are playing increasingly important roles, not only in fostering people-to-people ties but also in facilitating broader economic, cultural, and technological collaboration. Preparations for the National Assembly's second session must begin early, with close coordination from the outset. Issues that qualify for the session should be included, while documents must be submitted on time so that deputies have sufficient information and time to make high-quality decisions on important issues with long-term impacts, said top legislator Tran Thanh Man. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stressed that this is a time when efforts must be accelerated to strive for the highest possible completion of the tasks and targets set for 2026. The resolution directs Vietnam to effectively restructure, manage and use regional development space in line with national planning, leveraging the strongest advantages, competitive strengths and cultural identity of each region and locality, said Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Policy and Strategy Nguyen Thanh Nghi. The first is to elevate awareness of the position and role of the Vietnamese community abroad, he said. The resolution reaffirms that overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, while identifying them as one of the country’s important strategic resources, a bridge connecting Vietnam with the world, and partners directly contributing to national construction, development and defence. Vietnam consistently attaches importance to cooperation with Myanmar and supports its socio-economic development and national reconciliation. Myanmar, for its part, values Vietnam’s development achievements and prioritises strengthening the Comprehensive Cooperation Partnership, while facilitating Vietnamese businesses’ investment and operations in the country. The upgrade of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership with India, marked on September 3, 2016, during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Vietnam, was an important milestone, ushering in a new chapter in the ties between the two countries. From an economy that has made strong use of integration opportunities, Vietnam is increasingly seen as a country capable of proactively creating development space, establishing its position in regional and global networks and making more substantive contributions to common issues. The Vietnamese communities in China and Japan are increasingly serving as important links between Vietnam and their host societies, contributing not only to stronger people-to-people ties but also to broader economic, cultural and technological collaboration. The exhibition comprises two sections, focusing on preserving President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings in the hearts of the people and honouring those who have followed his example, highlighting his thought, morality and style, as well as outstanding individuals and collectives inspired by his teachings. The study and practice of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, moral example, methods and style in the new development period are among the focuses of the conference. Drawing on Vietnam’s and ASEAN’s experience, Consul General Nguyen Viet Kien called for an open, inclusive and mutually beneficial model of Eurasian connectivity, building a peaceful, stable, open, and well-connected Eurasian space that brings benefits to all nations. Speaking with staff at the relic site, NA President Tran Thanh Man urged them to continue their efforts in preserving and protecting artifacts and documents associated with President Ho Chi Minh for future generations, while doing more to introduce his life and great legacy to Vietnamese people and international visitors.
