Finnish Tourist Stabbed in Pattaya, Police Search for Transgender Partner

A Finnish tourist sought help from police in Pattaya after sustaining stab wounds following an altercation with his transgender partner early on July 2. At approximately 3:16 a.m., Pattaya City Police investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Suthiraphan Thapsri was on duty when the foreign national, later identified as Mr. Lauri, 59, a Finnish citizen, staggered into the station covered in blood and seeking urgent assistance. Police and rescue workers were immediately dispatched to assist the injured man. According to Mr. Lauri, speaking through an interpreter, he had been in a relationship with a transgender partner for over a year. He said the incident began after an argument over expenses of around 200 baht, which escalated into violence. He alleged that his partner used a sharp object—unseen by him at the time—to attack him, striking him above the left eyebrow and under the left eye, before stabbing him in the chest near the heart. Injured and bleeding, he managed to grab his motorcycle keys, flee the room, and ride to the police station for help. Rescue workers provided first aid at the scene, reporting lacerations to the eyebrow, under the left eye, and a stab wound to the left chest area. He was then transferred to hospital for further treatment. Police later inspected the victim’s motorcycle, which was found with visible blood stains, and documented it as evidence. Investigators have since coordinated with the police investigative unit to locate the suspect at the nearby room, approximately one kilometer from the station. CCTV footage in the area is being reviewed as officers work to identify and locate the alleged attacker for legal proceedings.
