Vietnam, Russia Agree on Key Orientations to Bolster Strategic Partnership

Vietnamese President To Lam and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed on major orientations for advancing the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both sides concurred that the partnership has achieved positive, substantive, and comprehensive progress over the past five years, built on shared interests and a firm foundation of mutual trust. During the talks, bilateral cooperation documents were exchanged across a wide range of spheres, including justice, finance, investment, transport, ethnic affairs, energy, nuclear safety, science and technology, education, and mineral resources. Energy cooperation, particularly in oil and gas, was highlighted as an important pillar of the bilateral relationship. President Lam expressed his belief that cooperation in science, technology, and innovation can become a new driving force, a new pillar, and a new symbol of bilateral relations in the 21st century, leveraging Russia’s scientific and technological capabilities and Vietnam’s strong determination to innovate and develop. Vietnam reiterated its consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, while diversifying and multilateralizing external relations and prioritizing national interests. The visit underscores Vietnam's special regard for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and is expected to contribute to strengthening the two countries' roles as strategic bridges between ASEAN and the EU.
