Cambodia: Support for Border Forces with Gifts from Prime Minister and Spouse

Steung Treng – Dr. Hang Sovutheary, Minister of Environment, on September 9, 2026, led a delegation to deliver aid from Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife, Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, to the forces of Military Region 1 in Steung Treng Province. These forces have been diligently working to defend the territorial integrity and security along the border lines. The visit was made in a spirit of deep concern for the well-being of the armed forces personnel on the front lines, who have strived and continue to stand firm in defending the nation's territorial integrity and security like an iron fortress, under the slogan "Defend the Nation for All, All for the Nation." The valuable contributions from Prime Minister Hun Manet and Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, along with contributions from the An Mardy Group, included essential food supplies, daily necessities, transportation, machinery, a vehicle, and financial support. These were presented to the forces as a gesture of encouragement and support for their strenuous efforts. On this occasion, Dr. Hang Sovutheary also highlighted the importance of protecting natural resources, emphasizing the significant role played by all armed forces personnel. Active collaboration in forest protection and the prevention of natural resource crimes has led Cambodia to be recognized internationally three times as a country with the best environment and natural resources, a country that uses land and natural resources sustainably, and a country with the most beautiful eco-tourism in ASEAN. These successes are attributed to the full support from the Senate President and the leadership of the Prime Minister of Cambodia. The leadership and all soldiers of Military Region 1 expressed their deepest emotions and gratitude for the sincere fraternity from their comrades in the rear, under the slogan "The rear supports the front, and the front defends and develops the rear." This meeting was not merely a donation of aid but a testament to the strong spirit of unity between the Royal Government, civil institutions, and the armed forces, working together for the cause of defending and building the nation.
