Cambodia Red Cross Conducts Humanitarian and Safety Awareness Training for Youth

The Cambodian Red Cross's Preah Vihear Provincial Branch has opened a training course on basic knowledge for 90 youth members, including 54 youth Red Cross members from Sangkom Thmey High School (38 female) and 36 newly recruited youth members (25 female). The training, held on July 16, 2026, in Tbaing village, Chomreoun commune, Sangkom Thmey district, covered the history of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, its fundamental principles, first aid techniques, and also disseminated information on the use of plastic bags and traffic safety. Presiding over the event was Ms. Duong Manet, Chairperson of the Sangkom Thmey District Red Cross Sub-Branch Committee in Preah Vihear Province. Ms. Duong Manet stated that the school has selected new youth members to continue their studies, and this basic training for youth Red Cross members aims to educate them on the history and fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the role of youth Red Cross members, and especially first aid techniques. She further urged the participants to study hard to become good children, good students, and good friends, to stay away from drugs, to strictly abide by traffic laws, to participate in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness at school and in other places, to avoid violence, and to help with household chores after their studies.
