YANGON, July 13 In Malaysia's Selangor state, a multi-agency task force conducted an Ops Lanjak operation in areas where a large number of foreigners reside and work in the cities of Klang and Shah Alam, screening over 1,000 foreigners and arresting 98 illegal foreign nationals, including 12 Myanmar nationals, according to Malaysian news. The operation, led by the Malaysian Immigration Department, targeted Jalan Paya in Kawasan 15, Klang city, Jalan Batu Tiga, and commercial premises and residences of foreigners in Alam Megah, Shah Alam city, around 10 a.m. on July 12. In the operation, 256 officers from various departments participated, screening a total of 1,183 foreigners. Ninety-eight foreigners were arrested for violating immigration laws. On July 8, another inspection was conducted at 7 locations, including construction sites, houses, workshops, and restaurants in Kuala Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman districts. In this operation, 109 foreigners were screened, and 23 illegal foreign nationals, including 7 Myanmar nationals, were newly arrested. Among those arrested were 10 men, 9 women, and 4 children. A total of 42 foreigners, including 20 Myanmar nationals arrested in the two operations in Terengganu state, have been sent to the Ajil Immigration Detention Center for further action under immigration law for lacking valid travel documents, overstaying their visas, and violating visa conditions.
