The "Step Forward with Vietnam" (Cùng Việt Nam tiến bước) walking program, held in 2026, has become a large-scale initiative aimed at promoting public health and fostering social cohesion across Vietnam. A total of 1,774,268 people participated in this program, which spanned 34 provinces and cities, and nearly 3,000 communes, wards, and administrative units, collectively contributing an impressive 10,068,000,515 steps. Endorsed by Nhan Dan, the official newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam, this event is expected to boost individual health awareness among citizens and revitalize local communities. In Vietnam, a one-party state, initiatives that mobilize public participation are often undertaken to enhance national morale and strengthen societal solidarity. This walking program can be seen within that context. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, maintaining the physical and mental well-being of its citizens is crucial for sustainable development. Furthermore, amidst complex external relations, particularly with China, reinforcing domestic unity is considered an essential element for maintaining national stability. Source: Nhan Dan
