Phnom Penh Governor Donates Over 92 Million Riel to Support High School Exam Process

Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng has donated approximately 92.16 million Riel to support the smooth operation of the High School Diploma Examination (Bak Doup), scheduled for August 10, 2026. This financial support was provided following a request from Hem Sinnareth, Director of the Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Education, Youth, and Sports. The funds are intended to provide incentives for personnel involved in the examination process, including security staff at examination centers, grading centers, and document storage areas, as well as for medical officials stationed at the centers with emergency ambulances for candidates experiencing health issues. Additionally, the funding covers the provision of free bicycle and motorcycle parking at each examination center, without charging candidates. For the 2026 examination, as in previous years, Governor Khuong Sreng has consistently provided moral, material, and financial support to ensure the successful conduct of the exams. The breakdown of the donated funds is as follows: - Free bicycle/motorcycle parking: 36 centers x 1,000,000 Riel = 36,000,000 Riel - Security at examination centers: 36 centers x 1,000,000 Riel = 36,000,000 Riel - Security at grading centers: 11 centers x 1,200,000 Riel = 13,200,000 Riel - Security for exam document storage: 1 center x 1,200,000 Riel = 1,200,000 Riel - Medical officials: 36 centers x 2 officials x 80,000 Riel = 5,760,000 Riel Total: 92,160,000 Riel Hem Sinnareth stated that for the 2026 examination in Phnom Penh, a total of 29,631 candidates have registered to take the exam across 36 centers and 1,193 rooms. This is part of the nationwide total of 151,238 candidates spread across 224 centers and 6,104 rooms.
