Khanh Hoa Province Awards Scholarships to Ethnic Minority and Island Students

In Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, a scholarship award ceremony was held on September 23rd in Nha Trang City for ethnic minority and island students facing hardship, for the 2026-2027 academic year. The event was jointly organized by the Fund for Youth in High-Lying and Island Areas and the "For a Beloved Hoang Sa - Truong Sa" Club. During the ceremony, 130 scholarships, each valued at 1 million VND (approximately $40 USD), were presented to outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, stated that these scholarships not only provide material support but also instill confidence and motivation for the students to strive for academic success. He highlighted past recipients who have achieved excellent academic results, entered universities and colleges, and grown into beneficial citizens for their families and society, underscoring the humanitarian significance and practical value of the program. Beyond annual scholarships, the Fund also provides long-term support to students from difficult circumstances, contributing to local human resource development. Truong Thi My Hoa, former Vice President of Vietnam and Chairwoman of the Fund's Management Board, noted that 226 students in Khanh Hoa are currently supported by the Fund through in-depth investment projects, including 125 students in the "Nurturing Future" project, which provides an average of 100 million VND per student per year to facilitate their studies. The program also extends support to children of military personnel and sailors serving on the islands and those involved in national maritime sovereignty protection missions. Beneficiaries include children from units such as Submarine Brigade 189, Submarine Brigade 196, Coast Guard Unit 4, and Naval Region 4. This support serves as a practical accompaniment, bolstering the rear services and enabling military personnel to focus on their duties to protect the nation's maritime sovereignty.
