DSI Officer Accused of Further Wrongdoing in Witness Intimidation Case

Thailand's Ministry of Justice is investigating new allegations against a Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officer involved in a senatorial corruption case, following earlier reports of witness intimidation. Multiple sources have reportedly filed complaints calling for severe disciplinary action against the same officer. According to sources within the Ministry of Justice, the DSI officer is suspected of embezzling tens of millions of baht in public funds during the investigation. There are strong indications that these funds were used to bribe witnesses into giving false testimony, specifically to implicate the Bhumjaithai Party and individuals in the senatorial corruption scandal. Senior DSI officials may also have been aware of or approved these fraudulent financial requests. The officer's alleged role extended to drafting investigation reports that supported the acceptance of the senatorial corruption case as a special investigation (case number 24/2568). His past experience as a secretary to a former DSI deputy director, who was a friend of a former Justice Minister, allegedly enabled him to link evidence by analyzing individuals' phone records. These new complaints detail accusations of illegal coercion, threats, and inducements, including the offer and acceptance of illegal benefits and monetary compensation, to compel witnesses to provide pre-arranged false statements.
