Prabowo Appoints New Top Officials at Attorney General's Office Amid Corruption Probe

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has signed a Presidential Decree appointing new officials within the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung). This move comes in the wake of the arrest of a Special Prosecutor (Jampidus) on corruption charges, signaling an effort to reform the institution. The decree appoints Asep Nana Mulyana as the new Deputy Attorney General, Kuntadi as the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak as the Junior Attorney General for General Crimes, Harli Siregar as the Head of the Education and Training Center, and Patris Yusrian Jaya as the Head of the Asset Recovery Agency. These appointments are directly linked to the arrest of the former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Ardiansyah, who is implicated in corruption and money laundering (TPPU) cases. According to the Kejagung's Head of Legal Information Center, Febrie is currently undergoing examination by investigators. The Attorney General's Office has issued three new investigation orders related to corruption cases involving Febrie. These orders pertain to alleged corruption and TPPU involving PT Krakatau Steel, coal procurement for PLN (State Electricity Company) power plants that led to a blackout, and the ASABRI case. In connection with these cases, Don Ritto, a private sector individual, has also been arrested on money laundering charges. Furthermore, Kejagung has formed a special team comprising nine senior prosecutors, many of whom previously served at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). This team is expected to investigate the corruption cases involving Febrie without resistance. The reshuffle and the ongoing corruption probe are seen as significant steps towards restoring public trust in Indonesia's law enforcement agencies and demonstrating the government's commitment to combating corruption.
