Laguna Suspends Afternoon Classes Due to Heavy Rains

LUCENA CITY — Laguna Gov. Sol Aragones suspended afternoon classes at all levels in public and private schools across the province on Monday due to heavy rains brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon. Aragones announced the suspension in a Facebook post after the entire province was placed under a Yellow Heavy Rainfall Warning. “Because of this, classes (half-day) are suspended from 1:00 p.m. onwards in all public and private schools. Alternative learning modes will be implemented,” Aragones said in her advisory written in Filipino. “Everyone, stay safe,” she added. Under a yellow rainfall warning, affected areas may experience 7.5 to 15 millimeters of rain within an hour, with moderate to heavy rainfall possibly continuing over the next two hours.
