Cambodia Ministry of Social Affairs Conducts Training on Fundamentals of Elderly Care

The Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation of Cambodia organized a training course on the "Fundamentals of Elderly Care" from September 14-18, 2026, at the ministry's headquarters. The initiative aims to enhance the well-being of the elderly, which in turn contributes to national economic development. The training's primary objectives are threefold: first, to provide participants with fundamental knowledge regarding the biological and psychological changes and general needs of the elderly; second, to equip them with practical caregiving skills to meet daily essential needs such as monitoring health status, nutritional management, hygiene, and facilitating physical activity; and third, to foster professional ethics, instilling a spirit of love, warmth, patience, and respect for the rights and dignity of the elderly. Secretary of State Nu Nim stated that this training is a crucial opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of elderly care. The course was attended by expert officials from the Department of Elderly and Veterans, representatives from the provincial and municipal Departments of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation across all 25 provinces, and personnel from relevant partner organizations. They expressed a shared commitment to improving the welfare of the elderly, recognizing that these efforts contribute to the nation's economic development. This training is part of Cambodia's response to the challenges of an aging society. The government is committed to creating an environment where the elderly can live with dignity, and the development of professional caregivers is a pressing priority.
