Vietnam Focuses on Heritage Preservation and Digital Conduct Code

Vietnam is hosting the "Heritage Flow" festival, a significant cultural event that aims to redefine the understanding of heritage. The festival, which ran from September 11-20, featured over 16 activities involving more than 3,000 artists and performers, over 100 artisans, and art troupes from Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and India. It attracted more than 250,000 visitors. The key message organizers wish to convey is that heritage is not a collection of artifacts or values frozen in the past, but a living flow that continues to evolve, adapt, and be enriched by each generation. This perspective was central to the festival's theme, "Heritage Flow." Co-organized by the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, and the Ninh Binh provincial People’s Committee, a dialogue was also held. This dialogue served as an important policy forum to discuss approaches to safeguarding heritage authenticity amid challenges such as urbanization, climate change, and tourism development. In a related development, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has introduced a Code of Conduct for the Digital Environment. This code aims to guide how organizations and individuals act on online platforms, boost their sense of responsibility, and encourage positive values in the digital space. This move addresses concerns about misinformation, harmful material, and inappropriate behavior that have become an issue online. These cultural initiatives underscore Vietnam's efforts to preserve and promote its rich cultural heritage while adapting to the digital age and modern societal changes. The focus on heritage as a dynamic, evolving entity suggests a strategy to integrate traditional values into contemporary life and national development.
