It has been learned that the 143rd Buddha Puja Festival and Boat Race at the Karawik Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda in Mithila, Mandalay Region, began on the morning of September 19. In the first part of the opening ceremony, invited Sayadaws offered Buddha Abhiseka to the pagoda within the Karawik Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and the Singha Muni Buddha image at the entrance of Karawik, and received teachings from the Sayadaws before performing a water pouring ceremony to share merits for all donations. In the second part of the ceremony, the District Administrator of Mithila and relevant officials opened the boat race. U Kyaw San, a member of the organizing committee for the Buddha Puja Festival and Boat Race, stated that 5 senior men's teams, 20 junior men's teams, and 4 women's teams will participate in the boat race. It is understood that the participating teams are from the villages of Naw San Taung, Lu Khin Gyi, and In Pya Let in Mithila Township.
