Vietnam Appoints Two Provincial Leaders as Deputy Inspectors General
Vietnam has appointed Pham Thanh Ngai, Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, and Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Director of Hue City Police, as new Deputy Inspectors General. This marks an unusual personnel move, bringing experienced provincial leaders to key central government positions.
Vietnam has appointed Pham Thanh Ngai, 55, former Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, and Nguyen Thanh Tuan, 50, Director of Hue City Police, as Deputy Inspectors General. This appointment is notable for bringing experienced provincial leaders to key central government positions. Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau presented the appointment decisions to Pham Thanh Ngai and Nguyen Thanh Tuan on the morning of September 7th. The Deputy Prime Minister praised the two new appointees, stating they possess solid capabilities, expertise, extensive practical experience, scientific thinking and working methods, and high credibility within their local leadership teams. Pham Thanh Ngai, from Ca Mau province, holds a Master's degree in Economic Law and a Bachelor's degree in Law. He served for many years in Ca Mau province, holding positions such as Deputy District Head of Tran Van Thoi, Deputy Director and then Director of the Provincial Party Committee Office, Secretary of Nam Can District Party Committee, and Secretary of Ca Mau City Party Committee. In September 2021, he became Deputy Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee and was elected Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in November 2024. In November 2025, the Secretariat transferred him to serve as Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee; subsequently, the Provincial People's Council elected him as Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan, 50, from Thanh Hoa province, holds a Master's degree in Criminology and Criminal Investigation and a university degree in Police Science. He served in various grassroots units and at the Ministry of Public Security, holding positions such as Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Central Police Youth Union. In January 2018, he was transferred and appointed as Deputy Director of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police. From July 2020 until now, he held the position of Director of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police (now Director of Hue City Police). The Government Inspectorate is a ministerial-level agency responsible for state management in inspection, handling citizen petitions and complaints, preventing corruption and negativity, and also implementing tasks to prevent waste. The current Inspector General is Nguyen Quoc Doan. The five Deputy Inspectors General include Nguyen Van Cuong, Le Sy Bay, Le Tien Dat, Pham Thanh Ngai, and Nguyen Thanh Tuan.
