7 Strategic Water Sources Nourishing Eastern Thailand's Industry, Development Underway

The development and management of seven strategic water sources are urgently needed to support the sustainable industrial development within Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). These water sources are responsible for supplying water to numerous industrial estates and related facilities located in the EEC region, and are essential for the stable operation of the manufacturing sector, a key pillar of the Thai economy. Industries such as automotive, electronics, and petrochemicals, in particular, require large amounts of water, making water resource security a top priority. The Thai government aims to improve supply capacity and promote efficient utilization by constructing and renovating dams, developing reservoirs, and introducing water recycling technologies to address challenges such as water scarcity and uneven distribution. Furthermore, long-term water resource management plans are being formulated to adapt to changing rainfall patterns due to climate change. This initiative not only secures industrial water but also considers broader socio-economic aspects, including the stable supply of water for community use and equitable distribution with agricultural water.
