2027 Holidays: EDSA Anniversary Remains Special Working Day

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has released the list of holidays for 2027, setting the dates for regular holidays and special non-working days. Among the notable inclusions is the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary on February 25, which will be observed as a special working day. The regular holidays for 2027 include New Year’s Day on January 1; Maundy Thursday on March 25; Good Friday on March 26; Araw ng Kagitingan on April 9; Labor Day on May 1; Independence Day on June 12; National Heroes Day on August 30; Bonifacio Day on November 30; Christmas Day on December 25; and Rizal Day on December 30. Special non-working days are designated for Ninoy Aquino Day on August 21, All Saints’ Day on November 1, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, and New Year’s Eve on December 31. The anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, a significant historical event that led to the ousting of the Marcos regime in 1986, will be a special working day. This means it will not be a public holiday but a regular workday. Other special non-working days include Chinese New Year on February 6; Black Saturday on March 27; All Souls’ Day on November 2; and Christmas Eve on December 24. The dates for Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha will be declared separately based on the Islamic calendar or astronomical calculations. In a separate declaration, President Marcos declared September 12 as a Day of National Mourning following the passing of National Artist for Literature, Resil Mojares. Mojares was recognized for his contributions as a "teacher, scholar, essayist, fictionist and historian," significantly promoting regional literature and history and shaping Cebuano and national identity.
