Holidays Declared in 13 Philippine Areas for Local Anniversaries and Festivals

Malacañang has declared special non-working days in 13 areas across the country to allow residents to participate in and enjoy their respective founding anniversaries and festivities. Proclamation 1371 declared August 7 a special non-working day in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya for the town’s fiesta. August 12 will be a special non-working day in Candoni, Negros Occidental for the observance of the municipality’s 65th founding anniversary based on Proclamation 1373. Proclamation 1374 declared August 13 a special non-working day in Magpet, Cotabato for the celebration of the town’s 63rd founding anniversary. August 14 will be a special non-working day in Davao City for the Kadayawan Festival and observance of the Indigenous Peoples’ Day based on Proclamation 1372. August 14 is also a special non-working day in Mawab, Davao de Oro as provided under Proclamation 1375, for the commemoration of the town’s founding anniversary. Proclamations 1376 and 1377 declared August 15 a special non-working day in Bulacan, and Viga in Catanduanes, respectively. Residents will mark the founding anniversary of Bulacan, while the people of Viga will celebrate the Araw ng Viga. Proclamation 1368 declared August 17 a special non-working day in Tuguegarao, Cagayan for the celebration of the Pavvurulun Afi Festival, in lieu of August 16, which falls on a Sunday. The Palace declared August 18 a special holiday in Kidapawan, Cotabato through Proclamation 1378, to mark the city’s 79th founding anniversary. Proclamation 1379 declared August 19 a special non-working day in Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya for the celebration of the Citrus Festival. August 19 will also be a special non-working day in Angono, Rizal as provided under Proclamation 1380, to mark the separation and independence of the town from being a part of Binangonan. Proclamation 1381 declared August 20 a holiday in Gasan, Marinduque for the town’s 417th founding anniversary. August 29 will be a special non-working day in Dangcagan, Bukidnon as provided under Proclamation 1382, for the celebration of the town’s founding anniversary. The proclamations were signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by the authority of President Marcos. These declarations are expected to bolster local identity, foster a sense of community, and potentially attract local tourism, thereby stimulating regional economies.
