Vietnam's Ministry of Defense Inspects UN Peacekeeping Force in Abyei

A delegation from Vietnam's Ministry of Defense arrived in the Abyei region of Africa on July 6th, local time, to commence working sessions with the Vietnamese peacekeeping force at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA). This visit aims to demonstrate Vietnam's active contribution to UN peacekeeping operations and to boost the morale and enhance the operational capabilities of the troops deployed on the ground. During the meetings, enhanced coordination between the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Defense was particularly emphasized, recognizing its indispensability for improving information sharing and operational execution in peacekeeping missions. Vietnam also shared its experiences in training personnel for participation in UN peacekeeping forces, reaffirming the importance of high-quality training programs aligned with international standards. The enhancement of medical unit capabilities was also discussed as a crucial element for the smooth execution of peacekeeping activities. The delegation highly praised the progress achieved by the Vietnamese peacekeeping force to date, commending its contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the Abyei region. This inspection is positioned as marking a new stage of growth in Vietnam's peacekeeping capabilities. Under its one-party system, Vietnam places importance on international cooperation, with its participation in peacekeeping operations being a part of its foreign policy. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, it pursues a strategy of enhancing its influence in the international community by fulfilling its global responsibilities, while simultaneously balancing its relationship with China to pursue national interests.
