Jakarta Under Thick Clouds, BMKG Forecasts Cloudy Day

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that most of the Jakarta metropolitan area (DKI Jakarta) will be covered by thick clouds today, Wednesday, July 22, 2026. According to the daily forecast released on the BMKG's official Instagram account, @infobmkg, most areas in the capital are not expected to experience rain throughout the day. However, BMKG urges residents to continuously monitor the latest weather information to anticipate any sudden changes in atmospheric conditions. Specifically, West Jakarta and Central Jakarta are predicted to start the day with partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the early morning, turning to thick clouds from morning to afternoon, and returning to partly cloudy by night. These areas are expected to have temperatures ranging from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius with wind speeds of around 5 kilometers per hour, indicating relatively comfortable conditions suitable for daytime activities. Nevertheless, it is advised to bring necessary equipment and stay updated on the weather if planning long outdoor activities. Similar weather patterns are expected in South Jakarta, East Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu). These regions are also forecast to begin the day with partly cloudy skies, followed by thick clouds from morning to afternoon, before clearing up to partly cloudy conditions at night. South, East, and North Jakarta are projected to have temperatures between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius with wind speeds of approximately 5 kilometers per hour. The Thousand Islands area is expected to experience temperatures between 27 to 28 degrees Celsius, with wind speeds reaching 10 kilometers per hour, and will be dominated by thick clouds from noon to afternoon. Overall, the weather across the DKI Jakarta area is expected to remain relatively stable and conducive to various activities. However, it is still recommended that residents stay informed about the latest updates from BMKG before engaging in outdoor activities.
