Pattaya Orders Concrete Plants to Halt Operations Amid Dust and Road Damage Complaints

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya officials have ordered two concrete plants in the Jomtien area to stop mixing concrete for three days after an inspection found problems involving dust and damaged roads following complaints from local residents. Pattaya Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai, accompanied by city administrators and relevant officials, inspected the two concrete plants on September 9 after residents complained about dust and deteriorating road conditions in the area. The inspection was also attended by Jomtien municipal officers, who helped facilitate the officials’ visit and maintain order during the operation. Officials found that the complaints had a genuine basis and immediately ordered the plants to suspend concrete-mixing operations for three days. The operators were also instructed to urgently repair damaged sections of road and take measures to control dust generated by their activities. City officials stressed that concrete and other materials must not be allowed to fall or spill onto public roads. Any operator found allowing concrete to spill onto the roadway can face a fine of up to 10,000 baht, with fines collected and submitted to Pattaya City in accordance with regulations. The inspection forms part of Pattaya’s efforts to address complaints affecting residents and road users, particularly in areas where construction-related activities can create dust, debris and road-safety problems. Officials said the same standards would be applied to all types of vehicles and operators to maintain road safety and public order. The city urged residents to report problems involving roads, dust, vehicles or other public-area issues through the Pattaya City 1337 hotline so officials can investigate and take appropriate action.
