Cambodia Envoy Discusses Border Issues, Investment with US Embassy Representative

Kim Monivithya, the Prime Minister's Special Envoy and daughter of Kem Sokha, held discussions with a representative from the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia regarding her new role in resolving border issues between Cambodia and Thailand and promoting foreign direct investment in Cambodia. This was announced on the U.S. Embassy's Facebook page on the afternoon of September 3rd. According to the U.S. Embassy, Monivithya and Aleks Zittle also discussed armed conflicts along the Cambodia-Thailand border during their meeting held at the U.S. Embassy. The U.S. Embassy wrote on its Facebook page: "Both ladies discussed the role of President Trump in achieving a ceasefire, and Ms. Zittle reaffirmed the United States' commitment to the full implementation of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Agreement." Notably, this is the third meeting Kim Monivithya has held with foreign envoys in her capacity as Prime Minister's Special Envoy. Her first meeting was with EU Ambassador Igor Driesmans on August 20th, and her second was with British Ambassador Dominic, discussing the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border and investment. Kim Monivithya was appointed Prime Minister's Special Envoy, with the rank of Senior Minister, by Royal Decree of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni on August 17th. Prime Minister Hun Manet assigned Kim Monivithya, daughter of Kem Sokha, to assist the government in attracting foreign investors to Cambodia and addressing Cambodia-Thailand border issues, recognizing her capabilities and international connections.
