Cambodia: New Home Provided to Veteran's Family as Gift from Prime Minister and Spouse

In Triel Commune, Tangkok District, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia, a former soldier facing hardship and his family have received a new home, a generous gift from Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate (former Prime Minister), and Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen. The handover ceremony took place on August 4, 2026. The recipient is 63-year-old retired soldier But Chanthy (rank: Prinh Bat Euy), his wife, and their three dependents, who had been living in inadequate housing conditions. Mr. Chanthy joined the military in 1987 and retired in 2001. The newly constructed house measures 5 meters by 7 meters, featuring reinforced concrete pillars, a galvanized iron sheet roof, smart board walls, a 3-meter kitchen terrace at the rear, and a sanitary toilet. This marks the 24th house built for veteran families in Tangkok District, funded by the initiatives of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet, through the efforts of Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the Association of Veterans and Retirees of Cambodia, Kun Kim. During the ceremony, Major General Som Sun, Commander of the Kampong Thom Provincial Operations Zone, along with other officials, presented the house along with essential supplies, household goods, and a sum of money from Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse to aid the family's daily life. Mr. But Chanthy expressed his profound gratitude for the support, offering well wishes to the donors. This initiative underscores the Cambodian government's ongoing commitment to supporting its veterans.
