Son La Province Launches Investigation to Identify Potential Martyrs' Gravesites
Son La Province in northern Vietnam has initiated an investigation to pinpoint locations potentially holding the remains of fallen soldiers. The military and local authorities are collaborating, with efforts to gather information from residents.
Son La Province in northern Vietnam has issued a plan for surveying and searching for the remains of fallen soldiers, with the aim of identifying and collecting them. Based on this plan, the Provincial Military Command will lead efforts, in coordination with the Department of Home Affairs, local governments, and relevant agencies, to conduct on-site surveys in specific areas within Son La Province. The areas targeted for investigation include Pu'a Lai village in To' Mua commune, and Tan Thanh and Long Khua villages in Song Khua commune. Reports suggest that the remains of fallen soldiers may be buried in these locations. The survey team will conduct interviews with witnesses and information providers, measure the site, create diagrams, photograph the current conditions, and complete verification dossiers. Following the site surveys, if the presence of martyrs' remains is confirmed, local militia forces will be mobilized to search for, exhume, collect, and preserve the remains and any accompanying artifacts. Subsequently, the collected remains will be handed over to Van Ho commune for a memorial service and burial in accordance with regulations. The Son La Provincial Steering Committee has instructed the Provincial Military Command to closely coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs, the local administrations of To' Mua, Song Khua, and Van Ho communes, and other relevant agencies to ensure the mission is carried out objectively, safely, and according to procedures. Furthermore, the province is urging the public to provide information regarding the graves of fallen soldiers, contributing to the effective search, collection, and identification of martyrs' remains. This initiative aims to fulfill the aspirations of martyrs' families and promote the traditional Vietnamese spirit of 'Drinking water, remember the source' and 'Repaying gratitude'.
