Thai Govt's 'Thai Helps Thai Plus' Stimulus Scheme Exceeds 138 Billion Baht in Spending

The Thai government announced that its economic stimulus program, 'Thai Helps Thai Plus,' has entered its final phase, with cumulative spending exceeding 138 billion baht. The initiative aims to alleviate the daily living expenses of citizens while simultaneously promoting income distribution to over 1.19 million small businesses nationwide. As of 11:00 PM on September 4, 2024, the total spending under the program has reached 138,379.3 million baht, benefiting 26,040,623 citizens and involving 1,192,565 registered shops. According to Ms. Lalida Perdtivivatana, Deputy Government Spokesperson, the administration led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is encouraging citizens to fully utilize the co-payment scheme (60% government, 40% citizen). This measure is designed to ease the cost of living for the public while stimulating spending and distributing income to small shops, restaurants, and community entrepreneurs across the country. The breakdown of the cumulative spending shows 79,505.2 million baht contributed by the government (76,604.2 million baht for general store purchases and 2,901.0 million baht for food delivery) and 58,874.1 million baht contributed by citizens (56,618.5 million baht for normal store purchases and 2,255.6 million baht for food delivery). The total circulation through food delivery channels has amounted to 5,156.6 million baht. Ms. Lalida emphasized that with the project entering its final month, citizens with remaining balances are urged to plan their spending within the specified period. This not only helps reduce personal expenses but also supports local economies, particularly by increasing income for small shops and entrepreneurs.
