Cagayan de Oro Police Arrest Drug Suspects, Cite Ordinance Violators in Citywide Drive

Police arrested two suspected drug personalities, served a warrant of arrest against a wanted individual, and cited 17 people for violating local ordinances during a citywide peace and order operation on Thursday night, July 16, in Cagayan de Oro City. The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office conducted the operation in the jurisdiction of Police Station 5 before culminating at the Barangay Macabalan Covered Court. Police said two suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act No. 9165), while another individual was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant. Authorities also enforced laws against illegal firearms under Republic Act No. 10591 and illegal gambling under Presidential Decree No. 1602. As part of the enforcement of local ordinances, police issued warnings to 14 individuals for roaming shirtless in public places and cited three others for public intoxication. Cagayan de Oro City Police director Col. Dexter Paje credited the successful operation to the close coordination between the police and the local government. “This drive shows what we can achieve when we act as one force with one purpose — to serve and protect,” Paje said. He also thanked Barangay Macabalan chair Engr. Saniel Raypon and barangay officials for their support. “We do not stand alone. We stand together with the communities we serve,” Paje said.
