Chile Seeks Deeper Vietnam Partnership, Emphasizing Role as Reliable Latin American Partner

On the evening of September 17 in Hanoi, the Embassy of Chile in Vietnam hosted a ceremony to celebrate the 216th anniversary of Chile's National Day and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Chile and Vietnam. On this occasion, the Chilean side expressed its intention to further deepen the comprehensive partnership with Vietnam. Vietnam has always attached importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Chile, and this ceremony served as an opportunity to reaffirm these relations. In particular, Chile aims to maintain and strengthen its position as a "reliable and stable partner" for Vietnam in the Latin American region. Specific areas of cooperation mentioned include strengthening ties between businesses of both countries in the field of industrial equipment, particularly energy equipment and industrial electrical equipment. This is expected to contribute to mutual economic growth by combining Vietnam's industrialization and energy transition policies with Chile's technological capabilities and resources. During the ceremony, measures for further development of bilateral relations were exchanged, and both sides agreed to continue promoting comprehensive cooperation. Vietnam, while continuing its economic growth under a one-party system, carefully manages its relations with its large neighbor China while also seeking to strengthen ties with countries in Europe, the Americas, and South America. Deepening relations with Chile is positioned as part of Vietnam's multifaceted diplomatic strategy.
