Battambang Province Issues 2,661 Land Titles to 1,006 Households

Battambang Province, Cambodia – On July 21, 2026, Governor Sok Lu presided over a ceremony in Battambang Province where 2,661 land ownership certificates were distributed to 1,006 households in Ang Krong and Doan Tri villages, Moung Russey district. Governor Sok Lu urged the recipients to safeguard their certificates and preserve the land for their descendants, advising against selling it. He noted that impoverished and vulnerable families, as identified by the Ministry of Planning, are exempt from land titling service fees. For general households, fees are set at 4 Riel per square meter for agricultural land and 30 Riel per square meter for residential land. The governor also encouraged civil servants and citizens to increase tree planting in public spaces, along roadsides, and at homes to foster greenery, restore the environment, and mitigate rising temperatures. Addressing the current dry spell attributed to the El Niño phenomenon, which is causing severe heat and drought across the country, Governor Sok Lu appealed to the public for water conservation. He explained that irrigation water supply to farmers is being limited to reserve water for future needs, seeking their understanding. The residents expressed their joy and deep gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Manet for the valuable land ownership certificates, which will benefit their livelihoods and be passed down through generations.
