Construction has officially commenced on Cambodia's 'Cambodia SuperPort' special economic zone in Kampong Speu province, a $300 million project aimed at enhancing the nation's investment climate and global competitiveness.
In Kampong Speu province, Cambodia, the construction of a new Special Economic Zone (SEZ) named 'Cambodia SuperPort,' with an investment of approximately $300 million, officially commenced on August 31, 2026. The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service, H.E. Hun Many, representing Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Hun Manet. Located in Sampov village, Chbar Mon commune, Chbar Mon city, Kampong Speu province, the Cambodia SuperPort SEZ will span approximately 132 hectares. Authorities highlighted that the commencement of this SEZ serves as clear evidence of the improving investment climate in Cambodia, fostered by peace, political stability, strong national unity, and an open economic policy towards global markets. These favorable conditions are attracting increasing interest from domestic and international investors, aiming to enhance the interconnectedness of production chains and services, thereby significantly contributing to poverty reduction, curbing migration, and providing better employment options for Cambodian citizens. The Cambodia SuperPort project is not only a significant development in logistics infrastructure but also possesses high potential to boost Cambodia's competitiveness by facilitating the connection of supply chains and streamlining the efficient movement of goods from domestic production bases to regional and international markets. Its strategic location is poised to become a crucial junction, linking industrial zones and logistics centers to multimodal transportation networks. Furthermore, it aims to create an integrated ecosystem combining industrial and logistics infrastructure to comprehensively meet the demands of investors and businesses. During the event, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister expressed strong hope that the Cambodia SuperPort SEZ will become a successful model of cooperation between the government, the domestic private sector, and international investment partners, transforming vision into tangible achievements that will bring long-term benefits to national economic growth and the improvement of Cambodian citizens' livelihoods.
