PKB Ulama Gathering Submits Recommendations to President Prabowo on National Development, Food Security

An assembly of Ulama (Islamic scholars) affiliated with Indonesia's National Awakening Party (PKB) has presented recommendations to President Prabowo Subianto, urging the continuation of national development and the establishment of food security. During the climax of the 28th anniversary event of PKB, held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), KH Muhyidin Al-Manafi, leader of the Asy-Syifaa Islamic boarding school (pesantren) in West Java, delivered a statement on behalf of Indonesian Ulama, pesantren leaders, and religious figures. Key recommendations included strengthening national sovereignty, achieving economic independence, accelerating industrialization and downstreaming, and realizing food and energy security. They also called for improving the quality of human resources and returning the direction of national development to the principles of Pancasila and Article 33 of the Constitution. The assembly emphasized that a strong state must operate within the framework of the constitution, justice, and good governance. Muhyidin stated that state power is a tool, not an end in itself, and that development acceleration should proceed alongside institutional strengthening, respect for the constitution, and the rule of law. They urged state officials to uphold meritocracy, eradicate corruption and abuse of power, and embrace constructive criticism and participation to ensure policies truly benefit the people. A third recommendation highlighted the view that the health of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) organization is a strategic asset for national interests. They believe that the healthier and stronger NU becomes, the greater its contribution to the Muslim community, the stronger national unity will be, and the more effective the state will be in realizing public welfare. These recommendations were directly handed over to President Prabowo. The PKB Ulama assembly stated its commitment to continue upholding Islamic teachings, maintaining unity, and providing constructive advice and corrections to ensure state governance remains within the framework of the constitution, justice, and the public good.
