NLEX Resumes Toll Collection After Opening Lanes in Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines — The North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) on Wednesday afternoon resumed collecting toll for vehicles travelling in Pulilan, Bulacan and San Fernando, Pampanga. This development comes after all lanes in Tulaoc Overpass and San Simon Interchange have opened. “NLEX has resumed toll collection as of 12:01pm earlier,” the Department of Transportation (DOTr) told reporters in a Viber message. The agency noted that the free toll for motorists would continue until the situation at NLEx goes back to normal. In a separate Facebook post, the Department of Public Works and Highways showed the light traffic situation along the southbound and northbound portions of San Simon Interchange on Wednesday. The NLEx Corporation noted that the floods in these areas were gone. Many motorists were stranded for at least five to nine hours along the affected parts of the expressway during several days of the heavy rains due to the habagat. The DOTr directed the NLEx Corporation to explain the flooding in Tulaoc and San Simon in Pampanga, and present proposed measures to mitigate the problem. /apl
