Phnom Penh Residence Fire: Electrical Shortage Suspected Cause
A fire broke out on the afternoon of July 30th in a Phnom Penh residence, completely destroying a second-floor room and its contents. An electrical short circuit is suspected as the cause, with no human casualties reported due to timely evacuation. Firefighters responded quickly to prevent further spread.
A fire broke out around noon on July 30, 2026, on the second floor of a residence located at House No. 19, Street 514, Village 1, Phsar Thmei Tkoak Commune, Chamkarmon District, Phnom Penh. Residents reported seeing black smoke and flames emanating from the second floor of their two-story apartment, prompting them to shout for help from nearby residents. They immediately reported the incident to the specialized firefighting authorities to ensure timely intervention and prevent further escalation. The fire destroyed one room on the second floor and most of its contents. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Four fire engines from the Firefighting and Rescue Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Headquarters arrived at the scene. Two fire engines used water to bring the fire under control.
