Cambodia Strengthens Social Affairs Sector Capacity Through Provincial Training

The Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation of Cambodia organized a capacity-building training program for officials responsible for social affairs and social welfare in Kampong Speu and Sihanoukville provinces from July 15-16, 2024. The opening ceremony was co-chaired by H.E. Oul Roe, Secretary of State of the Ministry, and H.E. Gia Sopu, Deputy Governor of Kampong Speu Province. H.E. Oul Roe emphasized that the training aims to instill and strengthen the capacity of all relevant officials, particularly those serving as social affairs personnel at the district and provincial levels. This is to ensure they can perform their functions effectively and efficiently, in accordance with Annex 1 and Annex 3, point "d" of the social affairs, veterans, and youth sector of Sub-decrees No. 182, 183, and 184, and Article 6 of Sub-decree No. 34, as well as the relevant guidance books. The training adheres to the legal framework, normative documents, guidelines, and procedures of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation. The training saw participation from H.E. the Director General of the General Directorate of Social Affairs Policy, H.E. the Director of the National Institute of Social Affairs, directors and deputy directors of relevant departments, heads and deputy heads of the provincial departments of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation in Kampong Speu and Sihanoukville provinces, deputy governors of districts and provinces, officials from the social affairs and social welfare offices of all 9 districts in Kampong Speu and all 6 districts in Sihanoukville, provincial orphanages, and development partner organizations in Kampong Speu.
