Cambodia Deports 158 Chinese Nationals for Tech Scams and Other Crimes

The General Department of Immigration has deported 158 Chinese nationals involved in technology-based scams (Online Scams) and other offenses from the country. Sources indicate that on July 25, 2026, in accordance with the high recommendations of H.E. Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and ministry leadership, H.E. General Sok Vanna, Director General of the General Department of Immigration, instructed the Department of Investigation and Procedure Implementation to cooperate with the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia to continue deporting a total of 158 Chinese nationals (5 females) from Cambodia via the Techo International Airport border gate. The General Department of Immigration stated that the deportation was carried out after authorities found them to be involved in technology-based scams (Online Scams), illegal residence and work, as well as the illegal use of narcotics. This operation to deport illegal foreign nationals is in strict implementation of the orders and legal measures of Samdech Techo Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Prime Minister has previously clearly stated his stance: "Cambodia will not allow criminals or illegal individuals to use Cambodian territory as a base for scams or to commit offenses that cause insecurity to the region and the world." "Authorities must continue to clean up, crack down, and deport without exception to protect national honor and security," he added.
