Myanmar President Arrives in Hanoi for Official Visit

Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing and his spouse arrived in Hanoi on September 4, commencing a three-day official visit to Vietnam. This visit is anticipated to significantly contribute to consolidating the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperative partnership between Vietnam and Myanmar, enhancing political trust, and expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation. As a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Vietnam plays a crucial role in promoting regional peace, stability, and cooperation. In its relations with Myanmar, particularly, Vietnam aims to deepen ties through dialogue and cooperation, underpinned by historical connections and shared regional challenges. This visit is expected to provide an opportunity for political dialogue between the two countries and serve as a platform to explore new possibilities for cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including economy, trade, and culture. Under its one-party system, Vietnam's foreign policy is shaped by a perspective that prioritizes national stability and economic development. In its relations with China, despite territorial disputes, Vietnam seeks to maintain economic interdependence and build a balanced relationship. Strengthening ties with Myanmar can also be seen as part of Vietnam's strategy to maintain and expand its regional influence while mitigating excessive reliance on China.
