Cainta police chief faces administrative raps over unreturned motorcycle
The chief of Cainta police and a subordinate are facing administrative charges for allegedly failing to return a motorcycle to its registered owner, despite a local court order. The owner sought the return of his vehicle following an acquittal on drug charges.
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — The chief of the Cainta police in Rizal province and his subordinate may face administrative charges for allegedly failing to release a motorcycle to the registered owner despite orders from a local court. The National Police Commission (Napolcom)-Calabarzon yesterday ordered Cainta police chief Lt. Col. Alfredo Lim and custodial officer Senior S/Sgt. Ferdinand Reyes to release the motorcycle within 24 hours and submit a report on the matter. The order stemmed from a complaint filed by Rene Canda Jr., registered owner of the motorcycle. Canda said Reyes allegedly refused to honor the release order issued in February 2025 by Antipolo Regional Trial Court Judge Edgardo Sison. The release was ordered alongside the acquittal of Canda on drug charges. After failing to get back his motorcycle, Canda emailed Napolcom-Calabarzon chief Owen de Luna, asking for help. De Luna directed Rizal police director Col. Eleazar Barber Jr. to ensure the release of the motorcycle.
