MARAMAG, Bukidnon — The Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) assured full support on Thursday for its student interns injured in a truck accident in Maramag, Bukidnon, as four students remained hospitalized, including one in the intensive care unit (ICU). In a statement posted on social media, the university said it remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of its students and ensuring they receive the necessary medical care and assistance following the July 15 accident. Master Sgt. Sheilder Bartolaba Abellanosa, of the Maramag Municipal Police Station, said about 50 DOrSU student interns were riding an Elf truck after hitching a ride from the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) at the Central Mindanao University (CMU) Dairy Farm, where they were undergoing on-the-job training, back to the CMU campus where they were temporarily staying. DOrSU President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, together with university officials, traveled to Bukidnon to personally assess the situation and oversee the university’s response. The university said it is closely monitoring the condition of every injured student and coordinating with hospitals to provide medical assistance, counseling, transportation, and communication with their families. DOrSU also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information while authorities continue their investigation and urged everyone to respect the privacy of the affected students and their families. Most of the injured sustained minor injuries and have since been treated, while four students remain confined in the hospital.
